I'd recommend the hotel if you're shuttling between Kakamega and Mumias towns.
The staff were very friendly. They sorted out our issues promptly.

The location is great and the deluxe rooms comfortable, and clean.
The tiles in the bathroom get slippery when wet. Lantana comfy management should add non-slip bathroom mats to prevent any cases of injury.
